The 2009 South Asian Spelling Bee

1. Most words used at the South Asian Spelling Bee will be from the consolidated word list posted here.

2. At the discretion of the pronouncer and judges, words may also be asked from Webster’s Third New International Dictionary AFTER the initial rounds.

3. At the FINALS, words from the consolidated word list or the Merriam-Webster's Third New International Dictionary may be asked.

4. Words will be pronounced according to the diacritical markings.

5. Spellers should use the consolidated word list as a guide but also prepare from the Merriam-Webster's Third New International Dictionary.
