About the South Asian Spelling Bee

The South Asian Spelling Bee is a platform that will give all South Asian students the opportunity to test their skills within their core peer group. In the 78th Nationals Scripps Spelling Bee, over 11% participants were South Asian and over the years many South Asian students have been champions. It is the effort of the South Asian Spelling Bee contest to encourage and promote South Asian talent across the US and to bring this aspect of a South Asian student’s life into the foreground by broadcasting this contest on National Television.

How will the South Asian Spelling Bee be done?

The path to choose the national champion will be paved via the elimination and regional rounds held in 8 cities across the US. The legal guardian must register on this website www.southasianspellingbee.com/register and enroll the speller for the nearest regional center. Once enrolled, participants will then be asked to report to their regional center of choice and will be administered a written spelling test. Then to proceed onto the ORAL round, the speller needs to spell 15 words or more correctly. In the regional round participants will be asked to spell words and as they misspell they will be eliminated from the round. The Top 2 spellers from the final round spelling correctly will be then sent forward to the Finals.
